Community of Practice

Communities of Practice exist as a means of creating a safe and open space to promote the following:
  • Mutual professional respect
  • Opportunity for collaboration and cooperation
  • Professional interaction among multiple levels of staff
  • Enriching activities for capacity-building
  • Shared ideas, concerns, experiences, and room for encouragement.
  • Self-evaluation and peer-evaluation
  • Systems of mutual support and accountability
The CoP established here is to promote support among instructional leadership and those involved in across educational levels and school types. The CoP should include personnel from the Ministry of Education. Other professionals may be invited to contribute to the discussion or training agenda of the CoPs.

Configuration of Communities of Practice
The central Community of Practice (CoP) will meet at specified times in webinar or seminar formats to discuss and explore topics and issues related to STWT in general, and specific issues related to adopting and sustaining successful STWT efforts in the Jamaican context.

The smaller communities will be arranged based on geographic location. These CoPs will meet at specified times to address a range of issues in local or situational context. The issues raised may be taken further to the central CoP for formalized capacity-building activities, or guidance.

Members of the CoP meet around a common purpose. Sharing ideas, and being engaged in stimulating activities will create an atmosphere for productivity, appreciation, and confidence.
